Question 1984 honda vt 250 (fII)

i was wondering if anyone has ANY details about the 1984 honda vt 250 fII. i have looked around different websites and have little succes. i am currently looking at rebuilding or reconditioning the engine in my bike, but alot of people are saying "just get rid of it". i have tried to get quotes for an engine rebuild but have found no sites. if anyone has any info for me please send it via e-mail.
i would be happy to let this bike go to someone who would rebuild or recondition it, it was working fine for me until about a week ago, i have been told the engine is seized but can possibly be repaired (hard to know without ripping the engine apart).

I doubt u will get any help here buddy as this is a jet ski website, but being a motor mechanic & a bike buff I can tell u, u won't get an online rebuild quote as no mechanic can accurately quote for wot they don't know, besides the guys that go online aren't mechanics.

It's 1 of those unknown entities where until it's stripped down there can be no accurate quote. A rough over-estimate is all u will get for now but I can tell u that the minimum charges will likely be as follows:

Piston- from $160 (incl rings & gudgeon pin)
Rebore- from $80 or $300 for resleeve
Gaskets- from $150 but a rebuild kit may be the best bet as there will likely be some head work involved which won't be cheap. A valve is around $90 (part only) last time I checked.
Labour- from $60/hr & I'm guessing there would be 5-12hrs work depending.

I'd budget up to $2000 so maybe a new bike is the go. It depends on how much u love yor VF I guess, but it is 24y/o now. I hope this helps.

P.s. Hey y don't u trade it in for a ski & come find out wot an aquatic motorbike goes like?

I had an 80s CB250 which I was planning to rebuild.. Until I got some prices on Honda parts, to say they were expensive is an understatement. In the end it was cheaper to buy a newer bike.

And that's why I ride a Kawasaki ...........I know, it's not a road bike. I prefer to dodge trees rather than cars. You don't need to rely on trees to look in their blind spot.
