Thread: Test rode today....

test rode the new Honda 2 seater turbo today at narrows.

Hull shape was good. turns very well. felt like an xp.... very nimble. the trim lever was pretty cool. good to keep nose down

But, after being on my RXT stage2 all morning, the honda felt gutless. fast once speed was up, but holeshot was terrible. do a tight turn, and your waiting for 2 seconds for power to come back. sitting there groaning away b4 you actually take off. is this due to turbo lag?? crappy prop?? not to sure

i think the ski has potential, but needs much more power down low. would be good race ski if its power was more instant.....

I test drove the two Honda's as well this morning (I was there early, about 8.30). I have similar thoughts - thought it was very nimble and turned sharply. Power was decent, but the (stock) RXT I drove a while back felt stronger performance wise, maybe because it had a wider power band. I also noticed the sluggish response down low (felt a lot like turbo lag to me). Overall I was impressed with the handling, but like you said, could do with more low-down power.

C Doo, you must have on fast ski! The fastest I've driven is a stock RXT (my family owns a XLT1200)

you can test ride em every saturday in summer in the morning at narrows.

simon my ski is quite fast. blew the honda away from down low right thru to top end. i was down just b4 10. were you still there? i have the red/black rxt

yeah I left around 1015 - I think I saw your rxt shortly before I packed up. Sounds like an awesome ride, I really enjoyed the rxt when I was able to take one out for a run a while back.

I have ridden a couple of the Honda's, I agree C Doo they do not seem very instantaneous, and I found they cavitated quite a bit but the one I rode was a demo so it probably needed a new pump liner, possibly

They look the part and they appear to be a good reliable ski, however at this point in time I think a little more R & D is needed before we see a Honda on the race track.
