Round 7 for us novices was sensational. With the rough conditions the field including us novices were pretty much on the same level..... survival and trying not falling off. Hard conditions to race and took the impact on the body. Struggling today to sit and walk. Started the first race last out the gate and slowly lap by lap made it to 4th at the finish thanks for Baz coming a cropper and Kelvin missing a buoy. Second race quick out the blocks and slowed down at the first buoy and let the slowdoo's go first. sat in 3rd place until sliding out going around a buoy and letting one go by. Hung on to finish fourth.
Last race had a great start and lead out early only to get over taken by al (slasher) at the first buoy. Stuggled to finish race but hung on to 2nd spot. Stoked at getting a podium finish for the last race(no actual podium though and maybe we need a carpenter who is a member to build one for next race Al!) forgot to watch out for flags and missed the finished and managed to do another lap with Baz (dlinkwint) i now condiser it a lap of honour!!!!! just for fun. Also a bit of contraversy at the start with Jet ski chick missing the start caught the field to finish 3rd.
Not sure of the round results but hope setting up this thread get them published.
Great fun but hardwork trying to clean ski after racing and definitely slept well sunday night.
See you down there next time. Make the effort and nobody bites, good friendly crowd.
The buzz of racing yesterday was better than a few weeks ago, the gate starts were thrilling and the wash from other ski's and wind waves were very much a challenge.
Watching the pro races were interest with close racing through out the day. Great to watch and great to participate. Can't wait for the next round. Any one reading this who doesn't race just give it go. Great excersise and a great personal challenge.
Cheers
Thommo
