Mate, we are trying to encourage everyone who wants to join us in our 'activities' in order to garner more support. Without letting too much out the bag, it will help the Social committee tremendously to get support for big rides (e.g. a Rotto run) if we have more members. It gives us more cred with the authorities. Not to mention bolstering the club coffers to be able to afford to put on bigger and better events.
Besides, if you enjoy those kind of events, why not sign up and be part of a group of similar minded people?
    My 5 cents worth.
Come on everyone!!!!! Join up! The club members make Ronald MacDonald look normal! You'll love it!

Since we are a responsible Organisation promoting safety and fun on the water it would be amiss of us if we allowed someone unlicensed to take part... Need I say More...

Firstly, was the decision to make the RST a requirement of JSW organised fuctions made by the JSW cimmittee and sanctioned by the chair, or was it a snap decision made by an individual not affiliated to make or enforce such rulings.

Secondly, not everyone can obtain their RST before buying their ski, so by saying you can't go on JSW activities until you've obtained the ticket may alienate that person into thinking f*&k it, I won't join the club then.

Thirdly, as far as promoting safety and fun on the water, surely it's better to encourage newbies to ride with experienced club members who can pass on and point out key safety issues and water protocol rather than having them ride ignorant and possibly increasing the chance accidents.

We certainly would not want to alienate anyone. In fact, the club and our supporting vendor/dealers (e.g. SeadooWest) even organise bulk bookings, craft and venues to enable riders to get an RST.
I wouldn't be surprised if the reputable dealers started offering 'RST assistance' of some kind in the deal!
Our mandate is to promote the sport and maintaining (or even enhancing) safety. Fortunately, we have a few members who are highly qualified in this area.
If, for some reason, we do seem to 'alienate' someone, please bring it to the attention of a JSW member so we can rectify the matter? If this means helping a 'Newbie' to get an RST then so be it. We would never intentionally make it difficult to be a member.
I trust that this clarify's any potential misunderstanding?
    Have fun, be safe!

APOLOGIES FOR GOING OFF TOPIC BUT I HAD TO SAY THIS AND GET IT OFF MY CHEST.......

Verificationated are you under 25? Because it is COMPULSORY FOR UNDER 25's TO HAVE THERE RST.

If so why do you care, if your too lazy to go and get your RST and help the people of Perth and JSW members LEARN the WATERWAY rules and help promote safety then why are you on this forum at all?

Im under 25 (20) and have been riding now for 4 years have owned 3 skis and still have a current one, My family also own a boat, my Dad of 62 didnt have to do the whole of his RST because hes owned a boat for so long, but he still decided to do the FULL course so that he can sharpen up his boating skills and keep up with the rules as time changes.

Also If JSW want to enforce the Water Way rules then thats entirely up to them, good on em I say, The Waters need more people like Chook and Alan to help promote safety and the more people that JSW can get to do the RST and have recomendations is better for ALL JETSKIERS if it wasnt for JSW we wouldnt have a group of people that can lobby for new areas and keep the DPI off our backs at the events like the Poker run and Previously the Bay to Bay.

Tops of Luck to the Gents at JSW keep up the awesome work.

    Phil
