What classes to run for 2009

I know this may stir a few people ...SORRY ..

But this has been asked about a 1000 times , what classes to run for 2009 season ????

We have a large group of new XPl`s just come in , large group of 4 strokes and the gap is getting bigger and bigger ...

Spoke to the guys in QLD and this is what we thought was a good idea ...

    Classes : Pole ski , 800 open 2 stroke , 1200 open 2 stroke , 4 stroke ...

Ok where is the Novice class ???

Each class will take any newbies pending on what ski you have ...

If you just brought a XPl , you join the 1200 open BUT :

You start with a dead lanyard start at the gate , you cant pass any one and you must let people pass when been over taken ...

The Race Director will let you race as per normal until your rinding ability is up to his standard ....

This way we can still finish in one day and keep the other riders safe ...

Just an idea, but we need to get some ideas for next year ...

Dam my phone is ringing , its Craig ...

    Its pop corn time ....

    I agree , great idea .

Keeps all classes very even and competitive and the new Guy or girl will race in their own class which is similar to their ski.

Were a flouro safety vest so every know`s to keep clear until their confidence is up to scratch.

I heard the AJSBA taking about something like this or next year as there is no jump to the big boys , its a gradual climb.

Just a thought, what about moving the people up that finish 1,2,3,4,5 in novice to the appropriate classes, still keep a novice class for the others and new riders. It might be very daunting for a newby to come in and be racing with some of the very fast ski's. You don't want to scare them off

    Yeah its an idea ..

But don't forget the class which has the fastest skis at the moment????

NOVICE CLASS ...over half have over 250hp ...

So the most scariest class is novice as they have the most powerful skis and ridden by the most inexperience riders...

I think the Novice guys are scaring a few people as it has the most love taps than any other class ..

Where is Beared Shark , he is great at writing 3 page reports ...

Sounds like a good idea Al. try and keep the similar skis together.

soon the classes will just be called xp class, xpl class, and rxp-x class!!!!

Having open 2 & 4 strokes separated makes good sense, it’s not only speed but the racing line taken on the CC due to different manoeuvrability of ski types.

Even better is allowing newbies join class specific according to ski type albeit with some restrictions as noted by Al.

It’s almost like having the newbies go on a probationary period ("P race plates") until Chookc gives the 'ok" nod.

Even if the 2 & 4 strokes are separated, just to make things interesting, there should be a least a couple of race rounds where the 2 open classes to mix it up ie best half of open 2 strokes vs top half of 4 strokes (CC dependent)

Or how about making the slalom round a "knock out round" similar to drag racing?

However, I think Wangers should race in the open 4 stroke, if he so wishes, ...my thoughts.....

Hehe, I'm here just been workin long hrs & not been in da mood for anythin other than bourbon & sleep.

I was gonna suggest wot Dlinkwint said as I think it's been proven that at least 3 of the Novice riders an handle their machines well enuf to put up a class. I think new riders can also be scared off by these riders in novice too, especially if they have a smaller 2 stroke.

However, I think the dead engine start & yellow jersey thing could work too. I think it's betta in the sense that it gives the new rider a better idea of wot ski they should be on if they wanna continue racing.

There ya go Slash, I said it in 3 paragraghs. That's gotta be a record eh?
