Question towing a broken ski ????

good evening everyone. its the weekend again, you beauty.......... another question, if i'm unlucky enough to break down, whats the deal with towing a broken 15f kawaksaki, the owners book says o.k. but no faster than 5 mph. if you are in the surf that may not be quick enough to beat a wave???

any tips will be greatly appreciated

    cheers newbie22

    Hey mate
Unfortunately over the last 3 weekends I have had to tow a ski back to shore each weekend. Of course it was a Sea Doo each time J

I have heard if you get towed you need tow plugs or something.
What this does it stops water going back through the motor. Not 100% sure but someone on here could elaborate.

As for me, I usually tow a ski back at just over idle not to put to much strain on my motor and any faster and it could cause water to back track through the ski being towed if they don’t have these plugs.

I can speak for the GPR anyway, when being towed at more than about 4mph unless you have a tap in the cooling line water will back up the exhaust and yeah Simple on/off tap plugged into the line is a good ins policy, trust me getting towed all the way down the river to Appletree for 1.5 hrs was not fun, nice scenery though

Yes you need a tow tap, it's just a water tap you fit to the inlet line of your water circuit so you don't fill the motor up with water as you don't have the exhaust pressure pushing it out when the motor is off. Always tow slowly, but if towing without a tow tap, tow at walking pace.
