Wake/Ski Pole for Kawas (and others)

Related to another thread regarding setting a PWC up for ski'ing.( I can't find at the moment)
My '98 STX 1100 has a ski pole on the rear, howevers its mounted too far back, and is a potential painful rogering in case of falling off the back.
I had found the online page http://leadgroupinc.com/index.php which has two after market products which bring the pole closer to the spotters handle at the back of the seat, and when not in use, drops the ski pole below the handle to remove the risk of painful steel enema's.
    Spot-N-Tow $239.00 USD, and Safe-T-Spot'r $139.00 USD.
The Safe-T-Spot'r would fit my ski, and is for the older models.
Check the Fit Chart for your ski/closest match

Note: I've never used these products, and only passing on info on what I found in a search a while back. Decided not to change mine, and keep as is until I upgrade in a year or so

    Towing? Where

Where are people towing from on there STX's?

I have an STX, that has a bar across the back that seems like it would snap off very quickly if one was to tow using it.

There is also a hole in the centre of the ski at the rear, that we have looped a rope through it, and it works, but would like a little height.

Therefore we thought about making a pole to fit the whole in the rear of the ski, that was linked to the hooks on the side of the ski (there are two on each side - does anyone know the purpose of them??)

The idea been the pole would be easy to remove, when not in use.

Anyone got any pictures of there towing setups they care to share?

And where do Kawasaki recommend towing from on these skis?

    Cheers
    David

Your talking about the same as mine is now

I'd suggest looking for something like I posted, than going for this, but it works fine.

THe blue straps are car belt straps which pass under the bolts holding the rear spotter hande down. These are to stop the flexing. They were no originally installed by the person who installed the pole, but I recommend them.

    ummm

The ones above dont seem to 'tow' on a 98 STX....

So one can assume that the whole at the rear is strong enough to two from then

Yes it is. The silver cross bar below the seat handle is as well. Hence the U shaped loop/latch in the middle.
I was showing the enema pole sticking out of the rear hole for you as an option, but overall I reckon a pole closer to the seat like the ones in the URL will give a MUCH better rider to any standup or kneeboard ride.
I've wakeboarded behind Yam's when looped through the back holes, and the downwards drag was a pain. The pole on this one did not drag down anywhere near as much, but I have also ridden behind proper power towers on ski boats, and the straight/upwards pull marks a HUGE difference.

I wouldn't!!!!!! I would do something like what Zurg's ski has had done to it. If u think about the science of it, u r pullin from a point much higher than the mounting point of the pole. Given the pulling direction, & the weight/strain put on that point I would DEFINITELY be bracing that pole at the top too. I also have the same hole on my Kawasaki ZXi so I know wot we r talking about here. I only pull a biscuit with mine, which I pull from the chrome D bolts on either side of the hull, using a bridle strap. But my rope does sit in the water whilst towing so is not a suitable set up for a wake board etc.

U r best to over compensate with this coz if it does give way, it'll make 1 hell of a mess of ya hull!
