Thread: Hehe......damage pics, DOH!

At the morbid request of a few , here is an example of what happens when a cast alloy piston lets go. A forged alloy piston would have just locked up, costing me a bore & piston kit.

Here is where the water was coming thru. U can c a small patch of pressurised calcifying.



It was coming thru the head gasket.

And this is what happens when u break down in rough choppy waters, & then get washed up onto rocks etc.



This is 1 of 2 sponsons I just finished making. It's repairable but will still show a few sml dings & scratches.



This incident nearly got me divorced. I got home, last night & she says sarcastically, "so what's it gonna cost, $3000?"........."Close.......$2000", I replied, thinking she'd be relieved after such a guess. "What? You just got the thing & now you're gonna spend half as much again fixing it?".........Thinking quickly I say, "would you prefer I bought a brand new 1?".........silence. I was hoping she'd say yes. "OH THAT SKI IS GONNA SIT THERE FOR A LONG TIME" she exclaims. "Cough, cough, yeah right", I thought. "I HATE THAT ******* SKI", she cries. "Shit happens, it's only money", I thought, keeping quiet. "She's just a pregnant woman overreacting", I tell myself...........some time passes. Still upset, she says, "so I suppose you want it back together for the race season?". "Yep, if it's possible"......... silence.........."anyone would think I made it happen", I thought. I let it go this time. I get home this afternoon & she hugs me (I don't get that on a good day). Still, not trusting a mood in pregnancy, I decide to take cover in the shed, & start prepping the motor, & assessing the work ahead. She comes out & I show her what happened. She puts on this cute, giving in, sorta voice & says "I hadn't budgeted for a rebuild. Then she starts talkin about where the money can come from, like I hadn't started planning that, but I let her go. That way it's her idea, therefore her idea that it gets rebuilt sooner. & they say women r smarter?! I knew this would be the outcome last night . Logic vs emotion. Emotion doesn't understand logic, but logic understands emotion .

Well it came apart easy ................Bloody KawaSUCKY .........

A mans words & brew r not enuf these days......next you'll want me to place an ad in public notices . Only joking. I appreciate it man. Alan, YOU ARE A CHAMPION, thanks mate. Being the top bloke that he is (plus living only 2mins away), Al offered 2 help me diagnose the prob. We got pump out, discovered it was eng lock up, not pump, so we took eng out, eng completely stripped, & rebuid plans underway all in 2hrs. It's nice 2 work with someone who knows what they're doing. I'm used 2 working with people who just slow u down coz u need 2 show them everything.

Chris, it aint all fun & games when it's 400th engine rebuild . It's more like......OOOH this again, YAWN . It's just that this'll b my 1st ski motor. All that means is it's a tad less boring coz there's learning involved.

Oh well sh.t happens ....... Lets hope that crank we found works which will save $$$$$$$$$$............
