Hehe....just a hair, prob belongs to the wife's puppy, who was keepin me company out in the shed.

I added a tap onto the water inj in the exh....so I can control the exh temp, to get it hotter & get more top end out of it. Being a stock exh, it is pretty thick & runs quite cool so there could b decent gains to be had.

Also, here r the B4 shots of the inlet manifold & crankcase inlet ports B4 I port & machine them.

On the work done to the rest of the motor, not much porting is needed, but some in the right places will make a difference.

You'll melt the silicon exhaust hose if you get it too hot, without enough water. The silicon hoses handle higher temps, but only if water present. I think the water helps cool them faster, than rubber.
My inlet into the exhaust water box was blocked which was causing the issues I had with the hoses.
The water was flowing around the jacket fine. My STX inlet also adds/circulates water in the jacket, so make sure your not leaning it off too much. I reckon it will take a bit of hit and miss for you to find the right setting.
Do the Big Bore Strokers of the same vintage do this to the inlet?
I don't remember seeing anything like that on STX Big Bore Stroker that was mod'd by some crew in the US when the STX was a new machine.

Yeah, same deal on the 1100 ZXi's. Identical motor, just bigger all rnd. If the ski u r thinkin of was very mod'd it prob had a full after market dry exh, or a limited inj port. As 4 the inlet, matchporting & blueprinting a manifold can give give lge improvements on any motor.

I won't b running the exh completely dry, but even if I did, I'd more worried about the exh cracking than the hoses. The hoses I got r designed for dry turbo exh, so the guys at turbo tech told me when I got em anyway. From memory, 1 of em made some comment about the hoses bein able 2 withstand more heat & pressure than my ski was ever gonna put em thru. I might do some double checking there but.

I'll give u HAH...... .......next time we take the bikes out..............KIDDING!!!!!!!

Ok, you've forced me 2 let go of a little secret. I was given some info by a wise kawasaki ski expert on what to do. His words gave me a betta idea, & he agreed, & told me exactly how I should excecute it.

I guess we'll all find out soon how good the advise was. At least with the tap I can vary it to achieve the optimum result, & with a temp guage, I can save damage.

The worst part first time is remembering which size/ length bolts are used for which part... Then you get to the end and relise you should have bolted part y on befor you dropped the motor in as noew you cabn't get a spanner into that spot to do upo the bolt... And where the hell do all these left over bolts and shik go....

Hehe. I know exactly wot u mean chook. I think I got that sorted tho. I'm used to bolt lengths etc....bein a mechanic & all.............still, there's bound 2 b 1 or 2 bolts left over.......usually is with motors rebuilt weeks after they were stripped down .

I reckon the machining would be done by now. I just need time 2 pick bits up! Then it's a matter of the porting etc I'm doin & reassembly..........then the BIG RUN IN................time........need more daylight hrs.....

I think its time for a ski repaint and the "R" added to the ZXI-R.

Should be good to hear your results when back together.
