    Kawa Recall on Ultra 250X/LX

Found on PWC Today forum, the following.
    KawaUltraX-LX_Recallpdf.pdf

    Fuel connector/clamp can come loose.
Document has HIN's to check if needs work.

Funny, don't see SeaDoo doing this for ceramic washers

And don't think u ever will. Imagime what it would cost them to addmit they stuffed up. 1 ski= $300-$400 to fix. 1000's of skis= you do the math. Would send them broke

What are the ultra 250's like. How do they compare to the RXT's. Someone i know is looking at one, only bad thing i've heard is they use alot of fuel. Need any feedback, good and bad. Preferable good

    2007 Stock Model comparison

Kawa - Faster take off, (much) better in any chop with hook up and ride, and especially in ocean wave cond. Top end speed 65-68 mph, can be cheaply modded to do 70-72 mph.
On flat water, stock Doo's are meant to be 1-2mph faster, but only in flat water.
I've read 2 aussie mags that did comparisons and rated the Kawa over the Doo, on pretty much everything, but these were numbers like 10 vs 9 for speed, 9 vs 8 for handling, so the difference shows more evolution than radical advancement.
Handling wise, it rides differently to older styles which allows the larger bulkier hull to compete with the Doo's.
I've been told Gary Blackburns Kawa is still stock, and the two race meets I have watched at the Narrows in a tight course had him being followed by a precession of Doo's including Wangers machine. I think GB would like to claim rider ability, but I think for this situation, the take off and better hook up is working for him.
If you don't want your mate to go faster than you, tell him to get the Doo

Gary's machine aint stock mate. he has spent a few $ on parts already

it is nice, but guzzles the juice big time. Also, Kawa have only just released the 250. SeaDoo have been running the SC models for years...

Also Wangers rides an xpl... older 2 stroke with balls and superior handling around tight courses....

Besides the washers, the RXT/P's are pretty faultless as standard. As faultless as a jet ski can be....

the first of anything has bugs... Baz, tell him to go the Doo!!! But i think both skis are pretty top notch...

Wangers' machine aint stock either......(951 with big bore out to 1050cc plus other work). That plus age diff wouldn't make for a fair comparison. But I guess they race in the same class, so...........

Hmmmmm I'd love to work out the pwr 2 weight ratio on each of those (Wangers vs Gary's) . Then u would have a basis for comparison in hull differences etc etc...

Also u would need to look at wot $$ it cost each of them. I think any1 comparing RXP vs Ultra 250 would b lookin at buyin a new ski rather than modding an older 1 .

i test rode the kwaka ultra 250 vs the Seadoo RXT

I bought the RXT....mate of mine had an ultra250 and has since sold it and bought a RXT as well....

i'm pretty happy with the fuel economy with my ski... i ride in the ocean all the time.... the kwaka in my opinion actually felt quite unstable in terms of when u were sitting still in the water..which wasnt very often.. but none the less....

also looked into the costs of rebuilding a ski etc.... doo parts are cheaper from what i found...(aftermarket pistons etc....)

from what i have seen, in long distance cruising, the kwaka uses about nearly twice the fuel of the seadoo, and it has a 75litre tank or something vs the 60litre tank in the RXT...

its all down to personal preference....

havent seen anyone with a honda yet though????

I have a stock RXP and have ridden Gary's (probably more than anyone else, other than Gary), GB's 250 is stock apart from the air filter and handle bars, mine has sponsons and nozzle extension, the RXP and 250 are very close from the take-off with the 250 edging in front and continuing to pull away at top end (in all water conditions flat and choppy). Around a track the RXP is much easier to handle and considerably more agile than the 250, the 250 tends to want to track forward so is very very hard work when it comes to turning, the fact GB rides with no sponsons and still wins is testament to both the ski and his riding ability.

Personal preferance..........I'd still go the RXP, because it's not has physically draining as the 250
