    Question Hello and Help

hello everyone, i have just registered. Met joel at causeway kawasaki and informed about this website. i have a brand new kawasaki stx 900. its been sitting in my garage over winter. yesterday i brought a new battery for it, took out the spark plugs and lubricated the pistons. i left it for a while. then i started it with the spark plugs out once or twice. when i put the spark plugs back in to start the ski, it sounded fine but never started. after a while it sounded like it was dying.

is this because it was flooded, battery is stuffed already, or something else is damaged. what do i need to do to get it back out on the water for summer?

    Hey Doc Welcome

New Battery, check the charge, re-charge-it anyway to be sure
Not advisable to turn some starter motors over for any longer than 10 or 15 second bursts, after 4 or 5 bursts, give it a break for 3 or 4 minutes,, let it cool down,,, sometimes they fry , overheat and breakdown if you continuously turn-over starter motor
    .
If the batteries fully charged but turns slow & sluggish,, starter motors probably on the way out,,, could need a new one

Hi Doc, welcome. I am Joel. I'm glad u registered...we need more kawasaki riders/racers . There will be 1 more soon. My employee just bought a 2001 ZXi 100 from Jet Power. As I told u at causeway, I think u will find this site friendly & helpful. Give me a call mate, I sent u a PM with my number.

As far as your battery goes, even tho u have just added the batt acid into the cells, I would still give it a good charge before use. Also it takes some time for the acid & lead to react & put out full current. Super cheap sell a 4amp charger for about $30. Charge it for around 4-6 hrs to boost the cycle then it should have enuf pwr to create a spark. I suspect that is the problem. It happened with my ZXi 900. Battery would crank engine but was not charged enuf to provide a spark. Keep us posted.
Sold: ZXi 900- Coffman piped, Nitro injected, Shaved head, Ported, Oversized jets, Uni-filters, UMI ride plate, Worx scoop grate, Renthal bars, Skat Trak prop, Oversized nozzle, Sponsons
Now Owned: '98 SPX full race equipped with stock driveline & a proven winner (3rd for 2008/9 season, 3rd at stated round, plus many more podium finishes)
