The only time I can recall water coming out of the outlet on forward starboard side was when I had the hose on to strong while flushing the motor, I had a ride today and didnt see water from the outlet at any stage.
Whats the story with it?

It sounds like u r talking about ya tell tales outlet. If nothing's comin out of it, there's most likely a blockage somewhere in the system. It should trickle, even at idle in the water. Try pullin various hoses off (1 at a time), block up the fitting, & blow em out with about 40psi of air. U probly wanna get onto it b4 u ride it next so as not to cook ya motor.....

I've seen that issue before on my STX. Easy to fix.
A small trickle should be seen at idle, and a reasoble shaped flow at speed. The water should be warm to the hand, but not so much as to burn.
From the exhaust header pipe is a small pipe leading forward to a heat sensor, which is mounted just under the deck near the glove box.
The outlet pipe spigot on the header, and the sensor were calcified over. Water was flowing out everywhere else as expected, so its not normally a major drama, but always better to check on it.
Here's the link for how I fixed mine. Revenge!!!

And that is exactly what the problem was. Both pipes on the heat sensor were ok but within the sensor it was calcified and blocked, got it freed up ok before going for a ride today. On the water the flow out of the outlet was a steady flow of about 3cm, but then during the ride it varied from a trickle to that full 3cm flow again. I will pull that heat sensor of again and have another go at it.
After the sensor the pipe goes to a T junction with 1 pipe going to the tell tale and the other to the oil pump - It doesnt show this pipe in the manual, is that the same on your machine zurg?

No its not.
From header to sensor, sensor to outlet.
The stream size reads about right for mine.
Note: The sensor only works if it gets to 98'c which it them sends a signal to ECM to go slow. If there's no water going through it, there's nothing to sense. Not really necessary to have connected if you regularly lean over and check the water temp, but thats a pain in the side since its on the throttle side.
