How many have u looked at?

I know yor predicament....... my ole' girl got that runaround bulls**t when shopping 4 a new car. She got fed a heap of it from this dealer, but loved the car. So I went in with her. They tried it on me too until I informed em I was a mechanic by trade & 1 of my mates is the w/shop manager & another is leading hand of the srvice dep't out the back. I got the car for $7000 cheaper than she was quoted with the extras thrown in. Plus got $2000 trade in on her old bommodore.

Anyhoo....moral is.....get a bloke who knows a bit to do the enquiring 4 ya & don't take s**t from people. Be firm, sound confident. Don't pretend to know more than you do. Let them try sell it to ya. Ask the important questions, & let the condition of ski speak for itself. I'd keep using ebay & trading post. 1 in 5 will b a good ski....unless u r expecting too much. I know.....I keep an eye out in both. Or try ya local classifieds. Or do what many do.....buy interstate. There are plenty in NSW & QLD too. Freight to Melbourne from either would only be $200-$300.

Red face How hard is it...

Hey,I fully agree on the "man to do the talking" I have someone that comes along with me & I get him to do a compression test, & we hav a general look over start up etc. I have looked at about 5 or 6 skiis & have seen some trashed skiis with dodgy repairs and some have been immaculate 2 look at but compression has been sh*_h#ouse so u walk away. They are snapped up down here in any condtion, but Ive been there done that with pumpin dollars into them and wanna get one with no major engine work to b done.Im definately considering buying up QLD, but I was told they maybe cheaper but they get used more often than skiis frm melb (shit weather) What do u think on that? I dont know what 2 do really, I hate not havin a ski & this weather is rubbing it in. Looks like my boat will get some use this year..lol

If it were me in that situation, I'd look at buyin the 1 in good nick, with low comp......knock em down, rebuild it & then u know u have a ski in good cond t/out that will last. Also, I've seen 2strokes with low comp. run for a long time. 2 strokes make their peak comp. at high revs so a comp test off the starter motor isn't always accurate. Low comp. could be due to weak or well used reeds, a relatively cheap fix in comparison to pistons, rings etc in a rebuild. If u find 1 in nice cond. it may pay to get it inspected by a ski mechanic. U may just be sittin on a gold mine & don't know it.
