    tuning 900zxi

Hi all , i now have my second ski - a zxi900 with works sponsons, r&d intake grate and solas prop! Thinking about racing next season. this ski runs really well but needs to get carbies tuned/setup right. It seems to lack a bit on the top end and very slight hesitation down low. Me really want full power coming out of a marker!!! Can any body help tuneup/balance/adjust them? or recommend someone? thanks in advance.

Just done a full rebuild on one with Bearded Shark with some tweaks..

Has great bottom and mid range , he is now looking at a Coffman's pipe to gain more top end ....

Hehe. Soooo.........another ZXi on board eh? This should be good. Kawicustom, I think I saw u on the water near palm beach as I drove past a few weeks ago. U had a passenger on the back. I ride at Crystals or narrows mostly but wherever the occasion takes me is where I go.

Slasher & I (mostly Slasher) drilled my jets out 2 sizes & tuned carbs but my motor aint stock. Port sizes r a lot larger for 1 thing. These things do hesitate down low.......I haven't been able 2 iron that out so far. It aint a carby thing, it has to do with the pump or water lines.

So I'm thinking, bottom end is hard to improve on without sacrificing top end unless u wanna do serious work. A prop change could b 1 way for improvement. But I took Mooka's advise & bored my reduction nozzle on my pump by 2mm & it made a couple of good differences, with only a 2 or 3 MPH loss of top end speed. U could make it go good down low & mid range then improve top end by makin it rev higher & harder.

Definitely come down Sunday if u can. U will know who I am at least, I'm the only clown there on a ZXi . What year is your ZXi? Is it the green/white/purple or the red/white/purple.

Have a look at this thread. There may be something in it that u could benefit from.

hi guys, thanks for the invite, i should be able to make it on sunday. i have the same prob with mine bearded - low end power/take off. i Got the ski 3 months ago from causeway. it had just had a fresh rebuild and new jet. checked it out and it had 115psi on all 3 cylinders ( thats a good start i thought). its got worx sponsons, r&d intake and solas prop. handles like a dream! I just want more power and acceleration. i pulled the oil injection off tonight. will give it a run down palmy tomos and see what difference that makes (will run it at 50-1) i will try and make an adaptor plate at work some time very soon so i can ditch the air filter box and replace it with 3 K&N's. Hey toybreaker (darren?), i sold the stand up 4 weeks ago so only the 1 ski now i also got a helmet last week so that i can race i just need to mod mine up a bit so i dont look like a plum on a slow arse ski going round the track!!!

I looked at that ski 20 times. Ended up goin over east for a cheaper 1 with less hrs. It will certainly be interesting racing you .

It wasn't you I saw @ palm beach then. The 1 I saw was same colour as mine.

Mate I could tell u all the pitfalls u r likely 2 run into both on & off the race track but that'd be helping the oposition now wouldn't it? . Only kidding, I'll help ya where I can.

I've had the same idea about the air cleaner. There r a couple of tricks u can do to the stock box in the mean time. I'll show u on sunday.
