I am in the process of writing a letter to my local state member outlining the licence fee inequalities.
PWC use is not just about going round and round and jumping waves. PWC use is also focused around aquatic activities that are conducted by motorboats. Wake boarding and general touring and tubing activities are a focus of jet ski use and may forma majority of PWC hours of use.
A survey of PWC use would be a useful resource.
Why are jet ski owners and licence holders unfairly legislated against because of craft ownership.
Water use should be shared equally. PWC's and their owners have come a long way. The craft are no longer loud noise machines.
PWC have been adopted by SLS association and police force. The current exclusion zones restrict craft users enough.
An additional licencing fee is now unreasonable. The fee is more than double a regular bpoat licence fee.
So, I'm writing a letter to my local member asking for a review of licencing fees and a more reasonable and equitable licence fee. One that is in line with regular boat users.
I hope others take the time to do the same.
