Just for the initial post though, and no disrespect to our good dealers. I/we have a network of associates who will deal with all Seadoos, no matter what their history is.

Remember we cant do it cheaper than the dealer, as we have massive overheads too.

I have flown a few times now to service/maintain skis for people, one was bought in Australia too, but was disgruntled at his dealer.

Customer service is the key. After all, they spent more than the price of an average car on them, and deserve to be treat well.

    Imports

I understand the reasoning behind not turning your back on customers with imports in the attempt to sway them eventually. Believe me, I have thought long and hard about it. However, for my dealership I have decided to battle the imports head on.

Probably because we are in the heart of imports. We literally have 6 importers within 1/2 hr from us. Customers come in to us and almost abuse us because our price is so much more than the others when they dont even realise some of the others aren't approved dealers. We are sick of it so we have decided to make a loss on our skis for as long as it takes for importers in this area to get the message.

I dont have any sympothy for people who import the skis themselves as they are the type of person that will try to screw you every time you deal with them anyway. I have had them with the nerve to come and ask for a discount on our branded jackets and stickers after telling me how they got their ski here from the US. Some customers are not worth the effort as sometimes the effort you put into them detracts from others experience at my dealership.

However, I will try to help people that genuinely dont recognise what they have purchased. Believe me, some importers near me make it pretty hard to realise they are NOT an approved dealer. I have had people sick to the stomach when you reveal what they have bought!

You may have a bad experience buying a TV and harvey norman, or buying milk from coles and swear to never go there again. This is not a debate on individual dealers and your past experience with them. Its about why should any AUS distributor of Kawi, Yam, BRP or Honda and their dealer offer any service to you if you have effectively backdoored the dealer network and the network put in place to help genuine AUS clients.

Sometimes importing parts as you said is done quicker by doing it yourself. Obviously it has to go throught the system with the dealer which sometimes takes a bit longer if its not in stock. However, we carry an amazing range of stock which I keep so MY customers have the best possible experience with us in returning their ski to them. This is only possibly from a genuine dealer. Hopefully this fact will eventually sway people back to the dealers for their new skis. Because, whilst maybe the backyarder can do a quick job, we consistantly do it with 6 full time factory trained techs to specification and have only a 2.6% return rate in 2009.

Thats the position we take with this issue. So to those of you import customer who have done a solenoid on a sat morning at the ramp with the kids in the car ready to go, dont come see us. We wont help you! However, if your a genuine AUS client, ill stay there all arvo to get you out there!

I purchased a 2nd hand import fzs earlier on in the year and I have to say a i know the situation is a little differnt but for the money I spent 16k I could have never bought a brand new ski with warranty. 16k was my budget and what every I could find for that price didn't have warranty so I don't think I went backwards. That's my 2cents worth

I'm not taking any sides I understand everybody side on these thing. It's like buying a products on eBay if you want a bargin you will buy. If it breaks well tuff luck. I know for a fact that there Are many people that are more than happy to work on import yammies and the differences between the oz delivered yammies and us yammies are the ecu ( this is what I have been told). I have been told that all parts are 100% the same. At the end of the day if something breaks it's all part of a risk for getting an import. Exactly as it is the same for things we do everyday it's your choice but I think not to help people that have bought an import well I think it's a little unfair as there paying you for the service not someone in the us. I respect GCWR views and I can understand the crap you have to put up with on trying to compete but unfortunatly everything is competition. Everybody deals with competion, preditory pricing. That's just the world we live in.

I don't understand why someone would buy a grey import for those prices. They want $18,500 for a grey import 2009 RXP-X with warranty thats not worth the paper it's writen on, i paid 2k more for a 2010 model with factory 2 year warranty. It was a no brainer for me.

I know this topic hasnt been touched for some time but I am curious as to an answer as it seems too many of you have diverted from the original question. Are these skis from this seller imports? Also, you keep saying the warranty is not worth the paper it's written on, yet you dont/cant back it up with any reason or facts. Please enlighten me/us why they arent worth anything.

The reason I am aksing this now is I too have just discovered this site and am wanting to know if they are imports or not and what the deal with the warranty is cos it seems like good pricing but, if the warranty is no good, I would rather buy from a better known dealer.

    Thanks

When you buy a ski from a person, not dealer, you cannot be certain as to where it came from either.

Should dealers just ignore them, they did me. I finished by talking to a rude, bad mannered, foul mouthed person at HQ, and this spurred me on to be who I am today in Australia

$18500 later, I found out it was imported. !!!, plus the expletives of course from BRP.

Kinda puts people off from buying BRP as used skis, which will impact BRP here eventually. The buyer is the person to be nurtured to buy locally, and not to get a barrage of what I got.

Still, am a Seadoo fanatic, and recommend them to anyone. Where they buy is their perrogative remember, and you can be innocent in all this melee too.

I can't understand how anybody could NOT know if the used ski they buy is a grey one or not.
The books and service history will show where it came from I would have thought.
Richieb, in your case did you not check them or were they conveniently "missing" but you went ahead with the purchase anyway.
IMHO anything I purchased, be it an auto, motorcycle or a PWC........NO BOOKS, NO BUY thank you. There's always a reason for books and service books missing.......it ain't been done(serviced), it maybe stolen or it's maybe a grey etc, etc.
