    Prop and Grate

    New to the site and new to the 4 stroke world,have done my fair share of work on 720s,,I purchased a 06 GTX 4 Tec last November with 38hrs on it, its just hit the 50hrs and I presume it needs a 50hrs service.It needs a grate and a prop as the stock grate has a broken bar and the leading edge on the prop looks like a bread knife,have not checked the clearance on the wear ring yet (does spin the prop real bad).Would I get much out of it by putting a better prop and grate on in?????,,,, top speed by the stock speedo is 57mph and rpm 7660.

    Just by fixing the prop and wear ring will greatly improve speed and hookup.
    Some inake greats will reduce top speed but give you better acceleratioon and handling in choppy conditions.

    How hard to remove pump???

    How difficult is it to take the pump out and change prop,,,I use to own a 96 GTI and I had that pump out quite a few times to change the foam seal and I found that very easy,,how does that compare to what I have now.?I have a service manual an it says something about a support tool for the drive shaft when you remove pump.!!!!!Do these pumps still run a seal of some sort.???

    Its quite staightforward if have done it before, as long as you align it correctly. My recommendation is probably change the wear ring at the same time while you are in there.
