2005 RXP oil light error limp mode please help

    hey guys

just bought a 2005 RXP with 50 hours but every time i take it out soon as i hit the waves and give it a squirt the oil light come on, display says oil. goes into limp mode. once i turn it off and on it goes away but im to scared to use it. took it into seadoo seaford (melbourne) they changed the top oil sensor, i took it out again and exact same problem. turn it off and on, all good but this time i gave it a thrash in the calm river for a couple of minutes and the light didnt come back on.

Any ideas? they said theres no error code logged and they only suggest checking wires !!! quoted me 10 minutes to 10 hours!!

also they changed the lanyard pole cause they said that was broken but yet they started it in front of me when i droped it off!!

I took it back and they changed the oil sensor back and refunded my money but i dont really want to take it back to them.

any ideas where to take it in melbourne??

could it be the bottom oil sensor??

what does the top oil sensor even do??

how much should this cost to fix??

    thanks for the help guys

    Hi there,
I have had the same prob with my 05 RXP for the past year. Ive changed out the bottom oil pressure sensor under the manifold but am still getting the same oil warning light and going into limp mode. I just remove the dess key and restart and it runs fine all day. Im also not getting any codes on BUDDS!!
I have been told that there is a problem with a lot of faulty sensors from factory so i will change it out again for one that I know is good. Everything else checks out ok so if you find anything else please post your results (as will I) as Im nearly at wits end. Nothing worse than being out in big surf and warnings going off and ski dropping into limp mode.
Another option and safe guard might be to install an oil pressure gauge. If I cant sort it out once and for all thats what im gonna do just for peace of mind.

Thanks Pottsy. Ive been a part of that thread, but consensus is that there is a sh*t load of dodgy sensors, and I dont want to keep buying them and getting a faulty one. At about fifty bucks a pop they aint cheap and no doubt my doo dealer wont replace them under warranty.
Like I said I think next step is to pull one from another ski just to confirm that it IS the problem, or not!!!

Ned, you can try the ones off one of my working skis if you want to isolate it by substitution.

Oil sensor is a regular one at the moment, but cures the hiccup.

    Bosa,
just a quick heads up re oil warning. Richie and I changed out 2 sets of brand new sensors( the rear one under manifold) and kept getting the warning. We decided to poach one out of another ski that we know never had issues and guess what - wallah no more f#@king oil warning. I cant understand how Seadoo can sell faulty bloody sensors, Someone there should get their balls torn off just for the grief this has given me over the past year.

By the way Richieb IS THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!!

If your reading this Richie thanks for everything bro and you better lock away that Rude3 next time im there otherwise it might find a new home

    Hey Ned
Can understand your frustration, i would be ringing Seadoo up and blowing someone apart about it.
It’s a massive relief when you get little issues like this finally out of the way.
The main thing its all resolved now and your back on the water.
Summer is on its way be sure to see you on the water.

Nothing is too hard for Richie. We were there one night till 3 in the morning getting my makes ski back up and running after it took on water. He didnt have to but just couldnt see a fellow rider down and out.
    Thanks mate.

See you back on the water.

We like to think Richie is a man but with that fairy style hydro turf on that stand up of his and wanting to ride down Georges river in a tutu, I beg to differ JJJ

    GOOOOOOOO RICHIE !!!!
    :P
