HELP! Some white powder stuff in my engine compartment.

Hi Guys, Need some advise.. 08 RXP - 10 hrs old today. After my first ride 2 weeks ago i washed the ski as there was a bit of salt in the engine compartment.. second time there was more - again i washed it out.. Before my third trip i took off the seat to again see what i originally thought was salt... taste test confirms it's not salt.. (i did crc the motor after my first trip.) went out today and the motor was covered in it. admittedly some was salt water but most is something powdery taste. Not sure what it is. can anyone help. the pics attached are AFTER the engine compartment had been washed. Thanks.

What do you spray the motor down with after you finish?
    Lanox? WD40 etc?

Well that’s the first no no, WD40 eats away at all the rubber components. Not too sure of the ingredient in DW40 that does it but i know that LANOX doesn’t have it and is safe or you ski.
I soak my motor and engine and components in Lanox and have never had that issue.

I am thinking that it’s the WD40 heating up and leaving a powdery residue, we'll im pretty certain its that.

Get your hands on a can of Lanox from any boating or automotive store and only use the WD on your trailer and see how you go.

Salt from the water you ride in.

The seat on a RXP sucks water from outside, and then it squishes it back out into the engine bay. Then it mixes with the protectant you have used, and bam, the bay looks grotty.

    RRPITA too.

Or it could be line-chasing..!, The Seadoos run like they are on it..!!

I got it back from 10hr service. They washed it out but it's still on there. It's caked on. Very carefully I used a bit of degreaser and washed it off. Looks much better now. Not like new though. At least I know it's not heaps of salt getting in there. The seAt is terrible. It sucks up heaps of water!!! It's water logged almost everytime I take it out. I'll spend a saturday with. Tootbrush and get the rest off. Should be ok then.

The soggy seat foam is sprayed through the under-rear holes as your weight is bounced about on the top of the seat, at the engine bay, and the salty water dries white. This sounds like it could be it.

Well I took it back to topgear seadoo melb. I asked them to re check it as it did not seem right. It was just too much stuff on the ski engine cover. They allege they took it out on the water tested it and it's fine absolutlly nothing wrong with it. Does anyone else here get this much stuff on their ski. Can someone please post a pic of their engine bay after a day on the salt water.

Yeah that would be a generic response.
    Nothing is ever wrong.

Why dont you try running it in fresh water and see if it comes back?
    Eliminate the salt water.
