I have a 2004 GTX Seadoo 185 Supercharged Jetski which i have recently bought which looks to be in great condition but no log books. I havent taken it on water yet but the way things sound and also look also proven by the amount of anticorrsion lube used seems to have been thouroghly maintained. It currently has 93 hrs and it is almost up for a service but wanted to do one now before i put it on water anyways. It has had the supercharger washers replaced from ceramic to stainless steel at about 70 hrs. I have been told by seadoo dealers it is almost time to overhaul the super charger in addition to the standard 100hr service. I was shocked to have realised that the cost in overhauling the supercharger is very expensive. Is it necessary if the washers are in good runing order. What shall i do?
Im getting charged $400 for a Labour and Part 100hr Service and $700 for a supercharger overhaul.
Considering parts for a full over-haul are VERY expensive, the $700 is not too bad a price all in.
Personally I only change what is necessary on my Ski. It does cut down on cost.
The "kit" has parts I would not buy, as they are not really going to wear or fail... such as Nut, 12mm washer, nut etc... When you see the kit, you will see what I mean.
Bearings, seals, tension washer, needle bearings, clutch washers are the usual things to wear.
The kit does an upgrade to 08 spec, which I am still unsure as to why I need to go this far, I just want it safe... period. Sod the 08 spec.
Just my opinion, especially as yours is not really hammering the SC like some are.
