Had a 2002 RXdi for a few years (sold it 2 years ago) and the only problem we encountered was a rectifyer going bad. The dealer said this was a common prob. He had it replaced in 30mins for a couple of hundred. apart from that I had no worries and it got plenty of ride time.
A mate has a 2002 RX carbed and he has nearly 300 hrs on it. His has had one full rebuild (under warranty) and two top ends done (both these he did as precautions). Other than the warranty rebuild he has had no problems with his and he now keeps it as a second ski to play in the waves etc. where he doesn't want to take his new ski (ie: he thinks its strong enough to take any abuse it cops and cheap enough that he won't be devistated if something happens to it)
CARBY CARBY CARBY CARBY CARBY CARBY........DO NOT touch DI units unless you want an unreliable headache. They had nothing over the carby version in the way of power but MAYBE a smidgeon of economy, I'm not sure but I do know the DI's had MANY problems.
