Cool 2002 GTX Limited Sea Doo

    Hello,
I would like to winterize my Sea Doo. I live in Toronto, Canada and will be storing it in my garage. I have two questions.
    1) What kind of oil should I use? Dealer says Synthetic 4 stroke yet another dealer says don't use Synthetic on the 4tec. One also said regular SAE 10w 40 motor oil and another said 10w 40 Marine oil. What's the difference.
    2) How do you run the antifreeze thru the engine exhaust?

Your help would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,

Normally aspirated engines, such as this, are ok with the BRP/Seadoo oil. XPS is the oil of choice if you are ever unsure. Synthetic is good for this model.

Marine Oils have different properties in the Two-stroke way, but you will notice the BRP XPS oil is for land based engines too, and there appears to be no difference with respect to the 4-tec engine, Seadoo, Skidoo or Can-AM.

Winterising your ski. It really depends on how cold it is likely to get, Where abouts are you.

BTW, Anti-freeze, or any other liquid should not be put in the exhaust.

One of the main things is the water in the exhaust water-box which may freeze in the dark months, and also in the oil-cooling system...

Get back to us with weather expectations, we will take it from there.

Thank you for your response Richieb, the winter temps here get below freezing. How would I put the antifreeze in the water box and in the oil cooling system...is that not thru the engine exhaust? Do I put the anti freeze thru the flush fitting? Wish I could ride the Sea Doo year round :-)
