VX110 will be under powered for what you want to do... go as big as you can afford
Cheers, looking around for a FX 140 what about the FX 160? is that just bigger and more powerfuller??
The numbers are the HP output so a 160 is 20 hp more than a 140....You can buy an 07 fx160 with 23hrs for 15,990 if i were you I would wait untill winter and when yamaha actually re-release the FXSHO apparently in may..Everyone will want one and anyone with a FX160 will be looking to offload...Be willing to travel to NSW to pick it up there will be so many Yammies for sale when the SHO's come out you'll get a bargain..I had a VX110 an it was way under powered and you won't be able to sell it when your sick of eveyone overtaking you.
As the HP steaks are now on I'd be suprised if yamaha keep making the 110.
if i were you I would buy the fastest thing you can afford you'll keep it for longer and if your looking to do tow in's go the 4 stroke than you'll be able to stay in the surf longer.....The FX160 is your best bet get an 07
Whats SA like for spots to SKI...

Samurai, I have a FXHO 160, done 130 hrs in 15 months and i have had no trouble what so ever. I had a 2 stroke GTX Seadoo previously and at 85 hours all sorts of things started to go wrong.
I sold that ski for $10,000 and went for the new 160 FXHO.
I did my home work on everything on the market December last year and after going on a Jet Ski Safari while holidaying on the Gold Coast i was definately sold on the 140 or 160 Yami.
The rental company used FX 140's and they had all done over 1,000 with out rebuilds. Although they were all detuned for there customers, you have to be confident in 1,000 hrs usage, they said that they had other brands before and would always now only buy Yamaha's.
Stability is another atribute of the bigger Yami. When i compare it to my old GTX, i was always hesitant to take my kids out as they were always a little nervous, now i can take all three with me, although it is a three seater. The Yami is very confident in carrying us.
I have ridden the VX 110 and although it gets up and go's, it is a much smaller ski to ride, you will need to ride both the VX and FXHO to see what i mean.
Economy wise i regularly ride for 90-110 klm's each weekend and i go through about half a tank ie, 35 liters.
If you are after, reliability, economy, pulling power, stability, a reverse and resale value, you can't go past the 140 or 160.( four stroke ).
If you can get hold of a 140 that has a good service record, even if it has higher hours, you will certainly be able to get a good price for it if ever you decide to upgrade to a new one once you get hooked!!
Don't hesitate to ask some more questions as their are some very experienced jet skiers on this forum who would be happy to give advice. Just keep in mind that Yamaha riders will have a different opinion than other brand riders as they have about their own brands, which is mainly Sea Doo or Kawasaki ...
Regards
Mark

Jetpower in wangara always has cheap deals on second hand skis like pottsy said its winter and ppl want the ski out of garage, i was speaking to boys at jetpower and they had a fx cruiser .....08........with 24 hours on floor, check it definately worth it
So whats the difference between the cruiser, delux, sport and HO? Just different features??
yep the cruiser and the deluxe are the same just different seats Sport is bottom of the range HO just means high output which i think is only on the 160's....
In order of power.
VX, FX140, FX160.
They are all good economical ski's.
The VX is an ideal 'learner ski'. In a couple of years you WILL be looking for more performance. We see many people start and move on to the quicker ones.
A couple of yrs? I give it 2 months if that.
Get a quick one, you can always back off the throttle.
