I am i better off goinig for a 4 stroke? I am looking at 2007 VX 110 with 85hrs on it for $11,500 what do you guys think??

Hi, welcome to the forums. I'm not really a Yami fan but I'd look at a GP1200 or GP1300R. The hulls r bullet proof, & they handle very well. They're pretty quick too. GP1200's can give wicked results when mod'd for race. They're both 2 strokes but. 4 strokes may be a little more reliable but everyone has their own opinion there. The fact is most of us have seen 4 strokes that have had more issues than some 2 strokes, so it's up to u. I like 2 stokes coz they're a lot cheaper to rebuild.....$1200 & up compared to $3000 & up.

Cheers Shark, i wouldnt be using it for racing so i need something really reliable. How often are ski's needed to be rebuilt? 2 strokes more than 4's?

Most will answer YES to that but they are as reliable as each other if purchased in good cond & the right preventative maintainance is carried out. The other advantage of a 4 stroke is that most often, they're more economical & come with bigger tanks too.

I am in SA not much to choose from from but thats prob the best ive found at the moment. Got couple more questions to bother you with =) Will this ski chew the juice down? If i capsize it will that be the end of it?
and how many more hours do you reckon i will get out of it before it needs to be rebulit?

They're actually pretty good on fuel. I know 3 guys over here who have em & they all get pretty good economy. I can't recall exactly wot miles to the gallon they get but I know its pretty good.

You may get it up to 200+ hrs b4 rebuild time, but it may need it b4 then. I think it varies on the treatment it's had & the treatment u will give it. That's a gamble we all take unfortunately. If u capsize it, don't stress. There is only 1 way u can turn them (anticlockwise I think), but if u tip it the other way & don't hold the revs on FULL then shut it down right away, & if u can't get it to shore easily then pull the plugs out, crank her over until there is no more water blowin out, then dowse the barrels & carbs with aerostart or CRC/WD40 & put plugs back in, start it & take it for a good fast run. There should be a sticker on the ski showin which way it can be rolled without needing this rigmarole, but if not, I'm sure if the exhaust is on the left side then it's left side down, so as to prevent water from the exhaust dropping into the motor.

most of the serious tow-in surfers, SW of W.A. that I've seen are using the Yamaha's FXHO's
    great ocean going hull
if you wanna get serious get a yamaha
the GP's one of the best wave jumpers
    .
either craft is good, GP 2 seater, FXHO bigger 3 seater, more expensive
you'll need a hood and seat strap kit
most if not all the serious guys use them,,,locks all the compartments and seats down
so that they can handle a roll or minor wipe-out with less chance of water ingress

    Slippery Jetpower
    .
    JET SPORT WEST UNLEASHED
