    gp1200r problem?

Hey guys, new to the hole jet ski thing, but just bought a gp1200r with 153hrs just been rebuilt 7 hours ago, but my problem is that it would only make it to a maximum top speed of 75kmh, it also seems a little sluggish pulling out of the water with two people on it. I no that these ski should be going faster then that, just need an idea on what it could be cheers,

    any help would be awesome...

What method did you use to check speed?

Just using the speedo, but i no its not the speedo because 2 of the same ski's where beside me and at 75 being as fast as i could go they both took off, them both saying that i was only getting to a max speed of 75km, i have taken it to the shop since and they have done a carbie rebuild just got it back yesterday and still the same, i took the spark plugs out to see if they were sparking and heaps of spark there but the 2nd cylinder spark plug is still clean ( looks brand new) could there be a fuel blockage? The ski sounds like a 2 stoke should out of the water but when i put it in the water it sounds alot more slugish /dowier? Need some help cheers

check your power valves are working and do a compression test i had the same problem mine was a hole in a piston now i have a ski that dose 120kph on water checked with gps and it is a great ski in the surf but these r high mantince skis and have you got any vibration at that speed make sure the impeller isnt damaged . but it sounds like your power power valves "ypvs" they play up all the time

You should be able to see and hear the PVs doing a cycle as you shut the engine off.....if not.................

Found the problem, wasnt power valves, Got the carbies rebuilt but was still playing up so took apart the second carbie cause it was the cylinder that wasnt working found some dodgey job on the carbie that was blocking any fuel gettin threw, top spped of 110 on speedo and now keeps up with gp1300r

good find!! keep a eye on the compression on the cylinder that was starving for fuel you don't want ring ware? as they can spin and hit your exhaust port then you will be up for piston and cylinder but congrats on getting it going good top speed as well
