why then do aus dealers charge so much more?

And Being that theres only a few yammie dealers here in perth are they Happy to service and do Recall work on a ski that you purchused from over seas. They can easally say there to busy go else were?

Good on you by the way I think you've opened some eyes.

I checked with Yamaha in Freo and Wangara and both said they are happy to service imports (got that in writing too).

Plus what if I purchased a jet ski 2nd hand from someone here not knowing a thing about jet ski's and not knowing if it's an import or not? Should that person then be penalised???

Even if they refused to service my ski though, I can use the services of my neighbour anyway (ex ski mechanic), as he actually works from home rebuilding, repairing and servicing ski's......he is flat out with work too!!!

Who knows why they charge so much.....are the dealerships the one's making all the money from the huge markup???

Or is it like fuel these days. The local petrol station isn't the one making all the money, it's the big petrol company's.

I would say that even though the aussie dollar is now strong agaist the green back the savings are not being passed to the consumer funny how an 07 FX160 can set you back 22-23grand then yet now you can get one for 19-20... Would be interested to here what a Dealer has to say to this..and you imagine that the place in the states were you bought your ski from would have to make money as well so what is the cost of a ski to a shop probably a few grand again less then you paid.

There are a few guys on the green hulk forum who have imported skis from the US and saved 1000's. All were over at the east coast, but still works out about the same.

Cost of ski in the US + around $3000-$3500 shipping (inclusive of all costs) + $1000 trailer = very big saving.

The RRP of all skis in the US is a heck of a lot less then here, about half AU prices.

it's not the dealers making these huge profits you think they are... They have very little mark up on a ski by the time they freight to perth predeliver, throw in all the extra's you guys want with them etc.

No I didn't think the dealers would be making the money....it's Yamaha that are making the money!!!

When you consider the fact that you can buy the FX SHO for $12,00 AUD from dealerships in the US, and the fact that Yamaha is still making money even when selling them at this price. I wonder what the true cost of the ski is!!!

So then were do the dealers get them from and why are they paying so much more delivery cost to aus are not 7 grand nor is a trailer...

I would never import a ski but with such a difference in price it makes you wonder I remember reading somewhere that a guy in the states was asking weather 12k was to much for an RXT-X WTF? why would you bother with all the shite that goes with selling these things if you were being ripped by the manufacturer. Maybe its all the Freinds you'll make when you tell them the ski they Ordered won't be available until just before the 09 models are about to come out, no dought without the Issues of the 08
