    2005 XLT1200 issues

Hi all, Just a quick question went out on the XLT the other day, Still only getting 84km per hour on the speedo MAX at Wide open throttle. When making a sharp turn to do a 180 or 360 she bogs in heavily and "spins the wheels" so to speak before it decides to pull out of the hole and get going again. Only 49 hours old. has been like it since i got it but a mate said it should do better and i am in agreement. All is stock no mods. revs are good at 7thou at Wide open throttle! It wont pull two 70kg people in a Ski tube! it just bogs in and steams out the back of the prop. it wont pull F&^% all Please advice?? also need to know where to get a new set of sponsons for this model Im in australia. thanks in advance. Brentle

Does it bog out from a standing start? and does it seem find once you get moving/top end?
This sounds similar to an issue my mate had with his.
The catalytic converter had come loose and and was moving aroud in the exhaust it eventaully had fallen down the back of the exhaust and got stuck, might be something worth checking out.
Could possible be the plugs as well, but doesnt explain why it happens when doing spins.

    Hope this helps.

Yep sounds like the same issue i had, my recommendation is to get rid of the cat and put a d-plate in there, it will get rid of the lag making it really responsive and a lot quicker.

Speak to steve from pwc performance parts he can ship you over new sponsons

    Cheers,
    Dom

I have a feeling there is no 'cat' in any of the XLTs.......I could be wrong, but I've never seen one in any of them.
GP1200Rs had no 'cat' (Same engine in XLT) in Australian delivered skis, and it only appeared on the 1300s and XLT never had that engine I'm sure.
Unless it's an import of course, as the American 1200s and 1300 engines had one to clean them up.
Your books will tell you where the ski came from......i.e. dealer, delivery date etc.
