The FX SHO is an entirely new form of perfection in a PWC. It is the product know-how garnered from two decades of Yamaha PWC development and evolution since our first model was introduced, and making full use of the very latest technological advances. The sharp-lined body has been designed with state-of-the-art PWC technologies in every aspect. Its 1,812cc 4-stroke, supercharged engine is Yamaha's answer to what constitutes the ideal format for a PWC engine. Its SMC hull is built with a new super-light material called NanoXcel™. And, the FX SHO also boasts the latest in electronic control devices, like the industry-first "Cruise Assist". The seat is a sports type that enables greater freedom of sitting position for the rider and passenger. Features including the extra large rear platform, the Reboarding Step and the Cruise Assist function combine to make this the ideal ski boat. In fact, you will find that the FX SHO provides unbeatable performance and features for hard-core marine enthusiasts and families alike, in all kinds of marine sports and leisure use and in high-speed cruising. This is a machine that is sure to exceed your highest expectations

Didn't they have that colour, or similar back in the late 90's? It's a nice blue anyway . Stats....HP, dry weight, etc?

Cruise assist.......mmmmm just like a modern car..... something else eletronic that will likely break down, & cost half the purchase price 2 fix . Simplicity works, always has .

    .
    heaps lighter than the 250X
and comparible within 10 kg's of RXP
with the Yama havin heaps more Cc's and room for er, um aftermarket enhancements
    .
    it's game-on

It's a big donk eh! (4 a ski). Not surprised they don't wanna let the HP stats out.

Yeah, ya can't work out HP on CC. Way too many variables. I think u may b thinking of HP to KW which is HP divided by 1.3 (approx) equals KW. CC/CI is worked out by multiplying bore by stroke by number of cyl's. HP/KW & torque can b varied by replacing bore with stroke & vice versa. A motor with a larger stroke length than bore diameter will likely have more torque than a motor with a larger bore diameter than stroke. That is a generalisation only. Then there is valve angle, size & duration etc etc etc that will vary possible HP output & max RPM, plus eng design such as OHC/DOHC or push rod will play a part (don't know of any push rod marine motors tho). Then u have fuel delivery, exhaust flow, & that's if it's naturally aspirated (no turbo or blower).

Bore & stroke specs on the new GP would be interesting.

wonder what this motor platform was previously driving???
    .
or is it a complete newbie evolution
    .
    .
and yeah,,,think Cc's is the biggest for a PWC
    .
    did somebody say """the biggest"""

Could possibly b a redesigned road bike eng. That's a substantially larger bore size than stroke, eh. It would seem they've gone 4 all out pwr, leaving the torque to come in early & then slowly pick up with RPM. Probably a gd application 4 a ski. I think Max. HP on high revving eng is the key. That's a matter of makin it reach peak RPM quickly, make it breathe & responsive, which is where top end comes in. I'm surprised they've used a 4V chamber....prob for better fuel consumption. On a motor that size I woud think there would b pwr to gain with a single (but lge) valve inlet. Maybe to create the right comp chamber shape, 1 lge valve wouldn't fit but 2 smaller ones would??? Just means more cam lobes, extra lifters, more cam stress etc

Add the right pump/impeller, make the hull handle & off u go...........if only it were that easy .

    yeah just re-read features etc

looks like a brand new engine platform
and new hull material.....bloody big risk,,with both of those factors...
    .
usually they come-out all restricted and almost governed down,,,from the factory.
    .
let it breath and unleash the new beast

New 1,812cc Super Charged Engine: The ideal engine for a PWC is one with super-high performance, light weight, compactness, reliability, durability and environment-friendly performance. This newly developed engine has all these features as only Yamaha can. It not only has a generous 1,812 cc displacement and a supercharger but also new lubrication system that combines a compact air-liquid separation chamber and a scavenger pump that are important in satisfying the requirements of an ideal PWC engine.
Centrifugal type Supercharger: The new supercharger developed to be a part of the ideal PWC engine is a centrifugal type with its qualities of quietness, compactness and minimum horsepower loss. Using fluid analysis to design turbine fins with the ideal shape to enable greater compactness without sacrificing output, both improved response and greater overall engine compactness were achieved. Also, by using a simple gear assembly to transmit drive force to the turbine, greater durability, serviceability and quietness have been achieved.
Scavenger Pump Assisted Wet Sump: A completely new lubrication system has been developed by combining a compact air-liquid separation chamber and a scavenging pump to achieve and unprecedented reduction in engine size while providing the lubrication function necessary to accommodate a PWC's rugged use conditions.

Hahaha, centrifugal charger for max output my arse. Whak a positive displacement on there & then u can say that. Max. perform. & eviro. friendly don't go 2getha .

Scavenger pump is a good idea but
