    Smile rpm kits for fxho

Hi, new to your thread, been reading it a bit but just joined to post.. Anyway i have a 2007 FXHO cruiser and its got 60hrs on it now and comes off warranty in 2mths.It has been a great ski, no complaints, no problems. Was wondering if anyone has put the riva rpm upgrade kit on one of these and if so did it make a difference? Reading good reports on the new SHO but dont know if i could justify the cost just yet as i love my ski..

Go for it. It really wakes the ski up. I got my kit from Carl, www.islandracing.net Best price I could find.

Get the R&D Ride Plate & Intake Grate. Carl has tested both the Riva & R&D, and recommended the R&D, with the rest of the kit Riva.

You need the whole kit to get much benifit, as without it it won't turn the larger prop.

I didn't worry about the sponsons. The stock ones are OK, unless you want to do some Closed Course racing.

    Pat,
I'm weighing up my next ski being either a K 250x, or FX HO with the kit you have.
Basically like the power, wife likes the power and the dry, and I'm an Ocean rider.
What power/accel gains over the stock did you get with yours?
    How did it effect Warranty?
Did you fit them, or get a dealer to fit them?

I fitted my own kit. It took about 4 or 5 hours. Pretty simple really. Warranty, I didn't worry about, because I have a good repoir with the dealer & he said it would be sweet.

Performace gains were good. Better holeshot & it pulls harder through out the whole rev range. Slight increase in top end & better hook up in the chop with the intake & handle better with ride plate. Overall it is a good package. Cost about $950AUD including freight. That is just a rough estimate.

If it is going to be more than $1000 AUD you will cop GST & import Duty. About $220 extra.

IMO I would go for the FX, with the kit. A lot cheaper on fuel & not really that much slower than the Ultra.

The Fuel usage of the 250 is what is leaning me to the FX. My Kawa STX drinks like a whale, and by my calcs, the 250 is not a significant improvement.

That's the kit I got. It may have been slightly cheaper when I got it, but not much.

Sorry for the slow reply, just got back from Variety Qld Jet Trek a couple of days ago.

On the Jet Trek, one morning leg we did , I put 40lts in the FX160 & one of the SHO's put in 50lts & another put in 55lts. Talking to one of the guys who rode a Ultra 250x, he said he was using more fuel than the SHO's throughout the week.

Rough calculations, I would say I used approx. 40lts a day less than the 250x
